The latest economic indicators reveal ongoing activity in the UK’s crucial service industries, which made up 81% of economic output and 83% of employment in late 2024.
Services Output

Services output fell by 0.4% between March and April 2025.

However, output rose 0.6% between February and April 2025 compared to the preceding quarter.

On an annual basis, services output increased 1.3% between February–April 2024 and the same period in 2025.
Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI)

The UK Services PMI rose to 51.3 in June, indicating modest expansion (above 50 signals growth).

New business increased, and inflationary pressures eased on both input costs and output prices.

Although new business from abroad remains down, the decline is slowing.
