Landlords no longer need to issue the “How to Rent” guide.
Following the implementation of the Renters’ Rights Act (RRA) on 1 May 2026, the traditional guide has been retired and replaced by new mandatory requirements:
New tenancies: Provide specific written information outlining the key terms of the tenancy (e.g., rent, deposit, repair rules) before the agreement is signed.
Existing tenancies: Landlords must serve the official government Information Sheet 2026 to every tenant named on the agreement by 31 May 2026. Failure to do so can result in fines of up to £7,000.
Ensure you download and issue the exact PDF to all tenants by hand, post, or as an email/text attachment.
